While clearly intrigued by the brave new world, Cellista also keenly evokes the city’s rapidly receding past, like on “Used to Be Orchards,” a title she gleaned from an artist’s display she “stumbled on at San Jose’s Kaleid Art Gallery.” She even includes an almost unrecognizable arrangement of Burt Bacharach’s “Do You Know the Way to San Jose” with new lyrics by Silicon Valley hip-hop artist and educator Dem One (Demone Carter). Partly funded by a Kickstarter campaign, “the album slowly but surely came together, with so many collaborators coming from different places,” Cellista says. “My strength might be curating content. A lot of those tracks, the interludes, I recorded myself when I couldn’t sleep at night. It was conceived to serve as a soundtrack for a multimedia piece.”.

Melania’s fans rushed to defend her by correctly pointing out that when Air Force One touched down in Corpus Christi, Texas several hours later she was more appropriately attired to visit a disaster zone in slacks, sneakers and a ball cap. Since then, Melania has accompanied the president two more times to hurricane- and flood-struck communities. The most recent visit was Thursday when she showed up in Fort Myers and Naples, Florida, wearing Converse low-tops, white jeans, and an olive button down blouse.
There’s also the music teacher who acts as the Count’s go-between (slyly cynical Erika Bakse) and the voraciously horny page vintage ballerina tin, ballet dancer tin box, tutu, pointe shoes, prima ballerina, vintage tin box, brocante, boudoir, french ch Cherubino (an irrepressible Jacob Williams) who’s always getting into trouble, There’s the drunkard gardener (humorously curmudgeonly Terry Haley) and his daughter who seems to be everybody’s lover (a charmingly innocent Claire Houghton-Renoe), There’s the housekeeper (amusingly lustful Karen Caronna) who wants to entrap Figaro into marrying her as payment for outstanding debts and the resentful doctor (a sour Joseph O’Loughlin) who aids her in a lawsuit against the roguish servant — bringing into the mix a know-nothing judge (pompously buffoonish Jerome Solberg) and a screamingly controlling clerk (imposingly all-business Lee-Ron)..
In opera roles, he’s a passionate singer-actor; on the concert stage, he’s an easygoing, charismatic star. Saturday’s appearance found him in fine form. His voice, a powerfully shaped, burnished instrument, still sounds fit and flexible and his stage persona exudes warmth, humor and boundless enthusiasm. With his first entrance, singing Siegmund’s aria, “Wintersturme wichen dem Wonnemond” from Wagner’s “Die Walküre,” Domingo sounded ardent and expansive. He returned with “Nemico della patria,” shading the beloved aria from Giordano’s “Andrea Chenier” with beautiful tone.
